By chantal

At the Dover Police Court on Monday Edward Jordon labourer of 6 Clarendon Place was charged with being drunk and disorderly and using obscene language on New Bridge.

P.C. Booth said at 6.15 p.m. on Saturday he saw the prisoner on New Bridge and using obscene language and wanting to fight five lads who were nearby. Prisoner refused to go away or cease bad language and struck at one of the lads. The man was not very drunk and knew what he was doing but he used bad language all the way to the station. Prisoner who had good character and discharged from the army said he had been working at the Tilmanstone Colliery but had been off five weeks with a poisoned hand. He was willing to take the pledge.

The Mayor said as the man was of good character he would be bound over in the sum of £5 to be of good behaviour for 12 months.
